Our Story: How Pest In Peace Began

Pest In Peace was founded in 2016 by Mike Whitworth, who after many years as a mechanic, decided to change careers and support the people of Cheshire.

He decided to move into pest control because of his passion for the local environment, and started undertaking courses and working as an apprentice for other local companies.

Over the years, both the business and Mike’s skillset have grown, and today Pest In Peace provides expert domestic and commercial pest control services across WilmslowMacclesfieldStockportCongleton and throughout Cheshire.

Mike welcomed Jake onto the team in 2024, and together they’ve undertaken many courses, including rodenticide management and Powered Access Licence (PAL) training to enable them both to operate equipment such as cherry pickers and scissor lifts.

Additionally, to show his passion for the environment, Mike introduced electric vans to the company in 2026, which earned Pest In Peace a nomination for the Sustainability Initiative Of The Year Award from the National Pest Awards. The company is a member of the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA).

Mike Whitworth

Mike Whitworth is the founder of Pest In Peace and specialises in wasp control, having worked hard over the years to hone his skills as a ‘wasp whisperer’ who can safely remove nests and colonies from properties across Cheshire.

As part of this work, Mike has undertaken courses to learn how to deal with the invasive Asian hornet, which is being sighted more frequently in the UK. He also works with local beekeepers to protect bee populations from wasps, supporting the local habitat.

Mike is also highly skilled in rodent control, with rodenticide qualifications, including a level 2 RSPH award and training to use Selontra®. He also holds a level 2 award in overall pest management from the RSPH and has attended training courses on many topics, including drainage investigations for rodent control.

Mike is always learning and improving his skills as a pest controller. He’s passionate about his work and that shows in the standard of service he provides to his domestic and commercial customers across Cheshire.
